New Year’s Eve Duck Hunt

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

Dec 31st 2009, Ducks at Stars 7PM
The Dallas Stars have their annual New Year’s Eve game, this year again with the hated Anaheim Ducks coming to visit the AAC. Should be an interesting one tonight. Dallas comes in with a nice 5-4 win over Chicago in their last game and Anaheim is coming off a win at home against Minnesota after losing to San Jose and Phoenix on the road. Dallas sits with 6 points above Anaheim at 45, and only 2 behind LA in the division. After a big home victory, Dallas could now beat one of the worst [...]

Taking advantage of a chance to Shine – Stars 5, B’Hawks 4

Stars Win!!!

Dallas had to be proud of this one. Before the game I just had a feeling that Dallas would show up, but end up losing it either in OT or in the shootout. But the Dallas Stars played up to the Chicago Blackhawks to pick up another home win, this one going back and forth. First a PP goal by Chicago, then Mike Modano (who keeps showing he isn’t old and done yet) scores on the PP. And from there it kept pace through the first period, ending with Dallas being out-shot 22-8 but only behind on the scoreboard [...]

Dragged under the snow-Now back home to face the B’Hawks

Sorry about to the delay folks, I was out and about Saturday for this game. And then yesterday was spent laying down sick and watching a little bit of football when I could stay awake. The Dallas Cowboys winning and getting into the playoffs is great, but it was a rough weekend for the Dallas Stars.
Saturday : Avs 4 – Stars 1
Saturday night the Stars continued their recent road struggles, and their struggles to string together wins. After picking up a 3-1 win Wed. night, the Stars looked like a different team on the road in Denver. Both teams started [...]

Merry Christmas from Blackoutdallas!

First we need some Christmas music:
August Burns Red – Carol of the Bells
Okay, that’s a little better. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Whatever you celebrate, however you celebrate it, I hope that all you hockey fans out there enjoy a blessed Christmas with friends & family.
I have had a fun and somewhat busy two days but it has been good. After a long year for me personally, Christmas reminded me that I am glad for what I do have and that I am still here with family and friends. Sadly no hockey today to watch, even teams that I don’t like have [...]

Tripping up the wounded – Stars win 3-1 over stumbling Blue Jackets

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Stars played an overall solid game Wed. night to take home a nice 3-1 win. Sure it was against one of the worst teams in the league, and sure Columbus is now 0-7-3 in their last 10 on the road and 1-8-3 in December. But Dallas needed a win to not only build confidence, but also to try and gain momentum. After beating the hated Red Wings 4-3 and then playing good but losing to division rival San Jose 4-2 Monday, the win last night makes it three at least good games for the guys in black at home.
This makes [...]

Stars vs Hitchcock & the Rejects (Take 2)

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Tonight Dallas faces off against Columbus for the second time this season. And Marty is still trying to get that bad taste out of his mouth. Last time the Blue Jacket beat Dallas at the AAC 4-1. That happens to be the last road victory Columbus has, who have since gone 0-6-3 on the road and dropped near the bottom of the league.
While Dallas has had troubles with defense this season so far, the Blue Jackets have had an even bigger problem with it. If my stats are right, former Stars coach Ken Hitchcock’s Jackets have allowed 131 Goals Against. [...]

Howdy (Isn’t that how everyone thinks texans speak?)

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Since this is the start of Blackoutdallas, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Austin, yes a very Texan name. I have been a huge Dallas Stars fan since about ‘96 and have many memories of Dallas Stars hockey. One of my favorite ones is staying up late the summer of 99 listening to the playoff games as they went in to OT after OT, and yelling out loud in celebration when Brett Hull scored to give the Stars the Stanley Cup. I was quickly in trouble for waking up half my household in the middle of the [...]
