What is soon to come with Blackoutdallas.com; Stars vs Sharks update

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: What is to come | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

So for those who don’t know, I had knee surgery today. Everything went well and I am at home recovering while also being able to watch the Stars vs Sharks game tonight. Sorry for my absence the last couple of days, as I planned to post up about Monday night about the game vs the Ducks. But I was extremely busy the last few days cramming surgery prep and four days of work into two days. But If you watched the game Monday, there is very little I can add that you couldn’t most likely see from just watching the [...]

To Retire or Not to Retire, that is the Question: Thoughts on Modano

Modano has always been the face of the Dallas Stars, but will that soon end? (Source:Yardbarker.com)
Mike Modano. You can’t say that name without thinking about the Dallas Stars and what Mo has been for this team for so many years. Not only to just this team, but also the city of Dallas. Modano gave a team moving to an area where hockey was not popular a face, a star player, and someone for many young players and fans. Modano gave the fans a young budding star to cheer for and watch spend his whole career with the same organization. That [...]

Bitten by old, crippled Sharks; Now another chance to loss to the Kings

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I can not wait for the Sharks to tank in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Something I tweeted late in the game Thursday night, and something I truly hope to see. Not that I am pissed as much by the fact that the San Jose Sharks beat the Stars 3-0, but by who scored for the Sharks and how the 3rd period went. Old defensemen Blake and Boyle both had great games for the Sharks and each scored a powerplay goal in the 2nd period. The Stars on the other hand got some chances and put 27 shots at [...]

Don’t look now, but Dallas can’t decide: to tank or stay alive?

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Stars 3, Predators 1
Does Kari Lehtonen want to be the Stars goalie next year or what? Seriously I remember seeing him play some when he was playing great for Atlanta with a shaky team in front of him. And plenty of us knew it might be possible for him to get healthy and turn into a #1 goalie, but most thought it would take the full off-season and some conditioning to see some of those results. Guess again! Believe me, I was not sure either how quick we would see fruit from Kari, but he is starting to show some. He [...]

To Quote a Maple Leafs Fan, “There is always next year.”

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It’s been real, but not real fun Dallas peps. The Stars are still fighting through the end of the season and trying to pick up points in their final games. But after dropping Sunday night’s game to Phoenix in the shootout 3-2, Dallas has only 10 games left and is just too far behind for anything to help them at this point. What is hard to deal with is that this team, after so many years of being in the playoffs each year, will now miss the post-season for the 2nd year in a row and that after only one [...]

Lesser of two bad defenses; Stars down Senators

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Stars 5, Senators 4
Yet again, the Dallas Stars defense has an ugly effort at times. But this proved to be one of the times where they got a hold of another team with somewhat sloppy defense themselves, and down the Ottawa Senators 5-4. The Stars suffered from lapses of focus and judgment in their own zone, and looked like the lesser team early in the 2nd when the Sens took a 3-2 lead on Jason Spezza’s 2nd goal of the afternoon. But Dallas stayed in the game, and Brad Richards added his 2nd of the game to make it 3-3 [...]

Well that didnt go as planned; Flyers down Stars

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

Flyers 3, Stars 2
I guess it finally is over. The Stars are no longer in the hunt for the playoffs. Did we know this before last night’s game? Yes, most of us already acknowledged that. But for the first time last night the team and coach Crawford seemed to admit it and realize it. The Dallas Stars put out a good effort and did play an overall better game then what we have been seeing for the most part since the Olympic break, but still ended up losing to the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2.
Hopeful goalie of the future Kari Lehtonen stopped [...]

Shocking the Sharks & the Fans; Philly tonight

AUTHOR: Austin Waldron | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

Stars 8, Sharks 2
Tuesday night, that effort was about as perfect of a game this team has played all year. The Dallas Stars scored just about every way you can think on the rival San Jose Sharks, and wound up handing the division leading Sharks their worst loss of the year by winning 8-2 in front of a big crowd at the AAC. And the packed house got their money’s worth. The Stars showed up on both the power-play and on the penalty kill, scored twice short-handed and twice on the power-play. The Stars looked great even strength too, out [...]
