Flyers 3, Stars 2
I guess it finally is over. The Stars are no longer in the hunt for the playoffs. Did we know this before last night’s game? Yes, most of us already acknowledged that. But for the first time last night the team and coach Crawford seemed to admit it and realize it. The Dallas Stars put out a good effort and did play an overall better game then what we have been seeing for the most part since the Olympic break, but still ended up losing to the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2.
Hopeful goalie of the future Kari Lehtonen stopped 28 of 31 shots and kept the Stars in the game, but was not great. He was still good enough for Dallas to get at least a point out of this game, especially since the 3rd goal by Philly which again went in off Trevor Daley, who seems to be doing a better job of scoring on his own goalie then the opposing this year. That is at least the 6th goal I can remember since January that has gone off Daley and past his own goalie.
Steve Ott did have a good game and continues to be one of the players Dallas will grow around in the coming years as he is entering the prime years of his career and is showing why he can be a leader. He gets set-up very nicely twice last night and is able to pocket both of Dallas’s goals.
Quick turn around as the Stars now host Ottawa for an early afternoon game Saturday, and then host Phoenix Sunday night. The focus now has to be on playing strong hockey, continuing to grow in these last 12 games and seeing what players this team needs to hold onto this off-season. More to come soon peps!
