Game 6 of the Finals

Don’t get caught up in the buzz of the NBA finals people. The NHL Stanley Cup finals are still in full swing, and tonight we could see the Cup raised by Chicago. The Blackhawks are up 3-2 now after scoring 7 goals in game 5 to win, and could finish the hockey season tonight in Philadelphia. Of course the Flyers do not intend to play nice and just let the Blackhawks come in and celebrate on their ice. So expect game 6 tonight to be gritty and a extremely competitive.

Not that this whole series has not been heated and back and forth, but tonight everything will be on the line with the Holy Grail of hockey in the building. After the top line having some scoring problems for most of the series, coach Quenneville split up his top line and moved Hossa alongside Toews. And the results looked great as Big Byfuglien had a 4 point night and linemate Versteeg got 3 points. But along with that the Blackhawks got offense from just about everyone and the powerplay went 2 for 4.

So tonight the Flyers have to figure out how to counter the fact that the Blackhawks have 3 line that have great offensive talent on them. Pronger can not chase around all the Blackhawks threats all night, he needs help from his teammates. Pronger went a -5 in the +/- column Sunday, and seemed to be out there all the time when the Blackhawks were getting good chances. But there is someone else who is still missing-in-action for the Flyers. Captain Mike Richards again provided no offense and was -2 himself. After 15 points in 17 games while going +6 over the first 3 rounds, he has only 2 points and has gone a -6 so far in this round. While he has carried his team at times to this series, he has been kept out of making an impact so far in this series. For the Flyers, if he wants to pick a time to start showing up, they would like it to be now because if he does not show up tonight it is probably over.
