Stars at Avs tonight; Roster moves and thougths

Didn’t we just beat these guys the other night??? Yes, yes we did and hopefully the Stars can get another solid performance in goal and grab another win tonight. After putting together back-to-back good performances at home over the weekend, the Stars take the show on the road to play the Avs again in Colorado tonight. Last time these two played, Kari Lehtonen looked great in net and helped carry the team to a 2-1 win. Tonight Andrew Raycroft is getting his start in net, and should play the whole game. With a good performance in net he could probably secure the backup spot behind Kari. Kahn got the start in net Saturday against the Blues, and though the team won 5-2, Dallas won on offense. Kahn didn’t face many shots and one (if not both) of the goals that he allowed were soft goals.

The team is carrying only 30 players tonight up to Denver after trimming down over the weekend and again today. Cheechoo’s tryout didn’t last long as the Stars cut him after he only played one game. Top prospect Scott Glennie gets sent back to his junior team for one more season, and surprise Aaron Gagnon clears waivers and will end up back with the Texas Stars after the preseason, in which he has looked great in a couple games so far. Other names sent down include Lukowich, Morin, Gazdic, Roman, Sawada, Ludwig, Sceviour, and goalies Beskorowany and Bachman. I think Gagnon is the only surprise here, as most fans have instantly noticed him at the preseason games and many people are taking notice of his play and abilities. But with guys like Wandell, Burish, Sutherby, Peterson, and Segal taking up time in the bottom half of the forwards, Gagnon may be destined to go back down and wait until someone gets injured to get a chance.

The top line for tonight’s game should be Neal-Richards-Eriksson, and after all 3 not playing together so far through the preseason it should be interesting to see them all together. Also look for Steve Ott to be playing center tonight on the second line, which is an option for him if one of the top 3 centers ever gets injured. Game is about to start at 8PM and here is the apparent audio feed (LINK).
