Time to go Duck hunting

Forget the other night, that game is now in the past. The Stars play game #2 of their 6 game homestand tonight, as the Dallas Stars host the Ducks. The Anaheim Ducks roll into Dallas for the first this season and its always a good game when the rival Ducks come into town. Of course being that they are divisional foes, they will faceoff 6 times this season and this will be the first one for the new season. The Ducks come in with a record of 3-5-1 as the Stars will go into tonight’s game with a 5-2 record. The Stars will faceoff three times over the next 22 days, as both teams will start to play a good chunk of divisional games and really get the season underway.

The Ducks are missing having long-time Anaheim blueliner Scott Niedemayer. The defense was a big part of the Ducks cup year in of 06-07 and their playoff years for a few seasons. But so far this season the Ducks are giving up more then 3.5 goals per game and even though they have a good goalie in Jonas Hiller, he has faced a lot and has not been given a lot of help. Combined with only scoring 2.33 goals a game, and that will not win you a lot of games.

The Stars could take advantage of the Ducks 1-5 record so far this season, and look to get back to winning tonight. Expect Lehtonen to be back in the crease for his 8th game in a row, as the light schedule is allowing the Stars to ride the stellar play of him so far this year. The Stars will bring in a healthy team too, compared to the Ducks having a few guys that will not play tonight.

Prediction: Stars 4, Ducks 2

Topics: Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Jonas Hiller
