The Stars get back at it tonight after a few days in between games and the opponent will be a familiar one that has given them trouble this year. The Stars host the Anaheim Ducks tonight at the American Airlines Center, and after how Dallas played in Anaheim last Thursday, the Stars should be ready and willing to redeem themselves against one of their rivals. Dallas has played the Ducks twice this season and the result is a pair of wins for the Ducks over the Stars and the Stars being outscored 9-4.
Dallas is on their second three game losing streak of the season so far, and letting it continue on any longer is not what the Stars should allow. Over the losing streak over the Stars offense has scored 3 goals total, and the team has allowed a total of 12 goals against. That will have to start changing. Maybe coming home for three games can help. They have a 5-3 record at home, and taking at least two of these three at home could be huge. After theses three at home, the Stars go on the road for 4 out of 5 and get into a consistent and rough schedule in December.
And that could be part of the Stars struggles when I really get to thinking about it. The schedule has been inconsistent at times, with long breaks in between games and then 2 or 3 really close to each other. But when the puck drops they have to be ready go and they have had issues putting together a full 60 minute effort lately. They can’t do that in this NHL, the better teams will pounce when you give them a 10-20 mins of control.
Notes: Brenden Morrow is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. He has a groin strain (sounds fun) and has had it since before the last game but tried to play through it in Anaheim. If he does not go tonight, expect Barch to play and Jamie Benn to slide up and play on the second line most likely. But this afternoon it came out that we can expect the captain to give it a go tonight, and hopefully he is fine and this was just a minor thing. The team gave him a few days off over the weekend to rest. The game is a late start for a local game, at 8PM central time. Either in the arena, or at home, be sure to watch tonight and hopefully we can see them wake back up out of this slump they have been in.
