Stars prepare for more Sharks

Dallas has had some time off over the last couple days to rest and prepare after silencing some of us that have been worried about their recent road struggles by picking up a nice divisional win against the San Jose Sharks in California on Monday night. The Stars played solid as a team and got a win on the road against a top divisional opponent. I mean shoot, they even scored on the powerplay in a building not called the American Airlines Center.

So now the Stars were practicing today and preparing for the second part of this home-and-home set with those pesky Sharks as the rivals will face-off again in downtown Dallas tomorrow night. Dallas got a solid win behind another good effort in net by Andrew Raycroft as he continues to get time in the net for the Stars. Raycroft again not just played good for 60 mins, but gave the Stars the win by playing great in the shootout as well. He shut down some of the Sharks top guys and Dallas got goals from Jamie Benn and Brad Richards undressed the goalie for the Stars to win the shootout 2-1 and win the game 3-2. The Stars survived the second when the Sharks made a big push and were able to grind it out as the game went on.

But tonight’s game could be a big one for Dallas and they need another win tonight. Kari Lehtonen practiced Wednesday and it looks like he will either make his return tonight or in the next game as the Stars sent Bachman back down to the AHL. But in the extremely close Pacific division and Western conference, each game against rival teams is key and if the Stars win tonight they would sweep the two games, well minus the one point the Sharks got for the game going into extra time Monday night. But two or three bad games could move a team from the top 3 teams to being somewhere below the playoff line, or vice versa. So Dallas hopes to have Lehtonen back in the net, and they have been one of the best teams so far this season at home. Maybe they can keep it going and grind out another win, as this game tonight could again have a playoff type of match feel to it and I think again is a one goal game.

Prediction: Stars 3, Sharks 2 again just without any extra funny business this time.
