The Stars go into a dangerous arena tonight, and Dallas will need a strong effort. The Dallas Stars play an important road game tonight against the Detroit Red Wings. Will the Stars are starting to get healthy a bit, the free fall has continued. The Stars are 1-8-1 in their last ten and 2-10-1 in their last 13 total. Not a strong stretch at all for a team that was once leading the division. Now the cushion, or little bit there was, is gone and the Stars are down in the middle of all the teams in the West fighting for every single point.
One good sign going into the game tonight is that the Stars are getting back a couple of energy and grit guys. Adam Burish and Krys Barch both will be back in the lineup since both suffered facial injuries in the Boston thrashing/fight-fest. Both guys will be welcomed back with the amount of injuries over the last couple of weeks, even Barch (a player I tend to hate). Both bring physical play and energy and help improve the bottom lines right now while the team is still without Richards. Right now it sounds like Richards may still be out another week or two, not promising for the Stars fans. He and Grossman continue to be out of the lineup and the sooner they can get back, the better. Right now the Stars are trying to grab a hold of something and find a way out of this hole without their top player and one of their top four Dmen. Jamie Benn came back in the lose Tuesday, and looked amazing. He was the best player in the game but just could not find the net. With three guys back now and the time for a turn around needed now, more then ever, hopefully some fresh legs and building on their effort against the Devils can net them two points.
Kari Lehtonen will be back in net again for the Stars tonight, and hopefully they can get a great effort from him tonight. He will face off against Howard tonight. With some physical guys back in the lineup and the Stars in need of a win, hopefully they come out with some energy. We all know how well this team does when they score first. Benn will once again be my focus in this game. He just looked head and shoulders above many guys on the ice and a few times created chances all by himself.
