Stars Up 2-1 After First

The Dallas Stars currently lead in their massive game against the Minnesota Wild by the score of 2-1 after the first period. The Stars of course know by now that winning this matchup in regulation or overtime (but not shootout) would earn them the 8th spot in the Western Conference and a trip to the playoffs.

The Stars came out a little flat and found themselves under fire early, resulting in 1-0 lead for the Wild off of a loose puck in front of Kari Lehtonen. But the Stars finally got their feet moving and getting after the puck, and picked up a couple of goals. Brad Richards scores on a fastbreak the other way after a blocked shot by Jamie Benn. Then shortly after Dallas got their second powerplay of the period and scored on it in front. Loui Eriksson whipped a wrister at a screened Jose Theodore, and although the goal was awarded to Loui originally, we now know that Brenden Morrow had the shot graze off of him.

So the Stars now carry a 2-1 lead into the second and are 26-1-1 when leading after two. Here we go with the 2nd!
