The Dallas Stars (9-3-0) are coming off an 7-6 exciting overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche and are looking to continue their winning streak against the Carolina Hurricanes (5-5-3), who lost against the Washington Capitals on Friday by a score of 5-1. Kari Lehtonen will start in the net for the Stars while Cam Ward will start in net for the Hurricanes. Both teams have injuries to report as Jussi Jokinen is out with a lower body injury and Steve Ott is out for another game with a hip injury. There was a hope that Ott could be back from this game or the next in Washington, but he will stay behind for the first half of the road trip at least.
Key players: Stars winger Brenden Morrow has four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 14 career games against the Hurricanes. The Stars could use a spark from him as he has been ineffective in some recent games. Hurricanes Eric Staal has been off to a slow start this season but look for him to step up in the game. If they both get things going during this game, it might be an interesting game against the two teams.
The puck drops at 1230 pm (CST) as this will be the first and only meeting between the Hurricanes and Stars, making it somewhat of a rare occasion. You can catch the game on tv with FOX Sports Southwest or on the radio side with Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket. This will be the first of four games during the Stars road trip this week. Look for the Dallas Stars to continue their win streak while the Hurricanes are looking to win against the Stars in front of their home crowd after a very weak performance on Friday. Watch to see which team gets off to a good start, as very early games like this often result in sloppy starts. But if one team can come out ready and moving their feet right away, then they have a chance to take advantage of the situation.
