What Happened: The Dallas Stars had a big test in front of them tonight, but more than rose to the occasion. Michael Ryder added his 5th and 6th goals of the season on a deflection and an absolute beauty. Adam Burish added a goal early into the third period to break a 2-2 tie, and it was all Stars from there. Jamie Benn added a power play goal and Eric Nystrom netted what could be the goal of the year for his third goal in as many games, pretty good for a guy who was added for his salary. He’s shown himself to be much more than that.

What It Means: An impressive performance over an undefeated team at home, and one of the best teams in the league, is exactly the kind of statement Dallas needed to make. Maybe it means the media will begin taking them seriously, maybe not. What is known is that the Stars can win against the best. Dallas also takes over the top spot in the NHL with 22 points in 14 games.

What’s Next: The road trip continues with another huge test against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, November 11th, where we may or may not see the long-awaited return of Sidney Crosby. It could be a showdown of the #1 teams in each conference. People will be watching, and you better believe the Stars are ready to keep proving themselves.
