The Dallas Stars (11-3-0), who dominated the Washington Capitals in a 5-2 win Tuesday, are facing the Pittsburgh Penguins (9-3-0) on the road tonight, who haven’t played since Saturday when they beat the LA Kings 3-2. Kari Lehtonen will start in the net for the Stars while Marc-Andre Fleury who will start at the other end for the Pens. Both teams have injuries to report as captain Sidney Crosby (Post Concussion Syndrome) will miss the game along with Tyler Kennedy (Concussion), Brian Strait (hyperextended elbow), Zbynek Michalek (broken finger) and Ben Lovejoy (broken wrist). Stars forward Steve Ott has missed two straight games with a hip pointer, has been put on the IR and will miss both games this weekend. Stars captain and forward Brenden Morrow is questionable with an elbow injury but reports are that he will try to play.
One story line is that former Stars player James Neal and Matt Niskanen are facing their old team for the first time since being traded last year for Alex Goligoski, who will return to Pittsburgh. It will be interesting match for all three players as it will be the first time for all three to face their former teams.
The puck drops at 6:00 pm (CST) at the Consol Energy Center as this will be the first of two meeting between the Pittsburgh Penguinls and Dallas Stars this season. You can catch the game on TV on FOX Sports Southwest or on the radio side with Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket as always. The Stars are looking to continue their winning streak on the road after two impressive wins have started it off, while the Penguins will be taking to the ice for the first time after a long time off after their recent roadtrip. Just like Tuesday’s game against the Capitals, this contest will have the Stars facing one of the top teams in the East on the road.
