Jamie Benn Out 10 Days To 3 Weeks

The last thing the Dallas Stars, who are combating enough injuries as it is, needed, was another injury to All-Star Jamie Benn. Mike Heika tweeted today that Benn underwent an Appendectomy today and is expected to miss anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. We are awaiting more details from the organization, and the nature of the Appendectomy is not currently known. This post will be updated as soon as we know more.

The Stars have five more games until the All-Star break begins, and Benn will likely miss all of them. It is not guaranteed he will even be healthy when the All-Star break ends, so it shouldn’t be a far stretch for Stars fans to not expect Benn to participate in the All-Star festivities. A disappointing development, but a necessary one for Benn to heal and get back to top form as soon as possible.

Update:

  • Full article with comments from Head Coach Glen Gulutzan available here.
  • Andrew’s ESPN Dallas Stars page also has an article available here, where GM Joe Nieuwendyk says Jamie Benn will miss 10-14 days, less time than the originally reported 10 days to 3 weeks. Recovery time from an Appendectomy can vary wildly, it will remain to be seen just how long Benn will be out for.
