Injury Update: Brenden Morrow Out For Longer Than The Weekend

News has finally surfaced surrounding the captain’s injury status. Per Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News, Brenden Morrow is going to be out for at least a couple of weeks now. Morrow has been out this week while struggling with a “neck/shoulder” injury still, and at first everyone was saying that he would return Sunday or next week. But it now sounds like Morrow’s stint on the IR will last a couple of weeks and possibly to sometime around the NHL trade deadline.

With Morrow out, the Dallas Stars will now have to take on the biggest three weeks of the season without him. While the Stars are currently sitting right around the “playoff line” in the West, a couple of bad weeks could easily end their season before we even reach the month of March. Right now the Stars have a little over two weeks to decide what to do at the trade deadline and their play over the next few weeks should give GM Joe Nieuwendyk some indication as to what he should do. With their captain out of the lineup for a couple of weeks, the Stars now will have to march into the most important part of their season without their captain. That might also kill a lot of the trade buzz surrounding Morrow right now. While he can still be moved if the Stars decide to, getting a big return for him could be hard while he is not playing.

We will bring you more news and info on Brenden Morrow as it comes out. For now, here is Heika’s brief story on Morrow’s injury: Link.
