Well put. I agree about drafting, but I think the Stars have begun that process. After the last regime traded picks like crazy and depleted the system, the Stars have begun to rebuild it. Some of their picks are questionable, but they also have a lot of late gems and free agent college signings that look promising. The thing is, now they have a lot of cap space and an owner willing to spend. The thing will be to sign the right guys, not just start signing whatever is there. I'd rather they sign the right guys over the next 2-3 years and not pull a Buffalo and sign anyone they can in one summer.

I am not in favor of trying to build a team through free agency. It is also financially impossible in today's cap world. The only way is through smart, effective drafting and trading. So let us put these notions aside and focus on good drafting and not being timid about trading older and established assets to balance as well as make this franchise another Red Wings type of organization. In regards to the fans like myself we must show patience now that we have a new owner and a capable gm. I must insist that they clean house on those responsible for our drafts, they have not yet proven to be overwhelmingly great nor necessarily enticing to other owners to part with their assets.
