Getting to Know Me, The Newest BD Writer

Stars fans, we are all locked out right now, which I am hoping they will end the lockout soon and see the big shinning Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center. However, I am happy and honored to be the newest and latest staff writer for Blackout Dallas. For my first article, I have decided to write an article about myself so all of you can get to know me and what to expect from me on this site.

First of all, my name is Melissa Grissom. I have been a long-time Dallas Stars fan since 1996 and loved the game of hockey for the same amount of years that I have supported the Stars. My biggest influence for the love of the game has been Steve Yzerman, who used to play for the Detroit Red Wings. You want to know why I picked him over a Dallas Star. His dedication, leadership and passion for the game is why I love hockey!

My favorite player in the NHL has to be Brenden Morrow, the captain and longtime Stars player since 2000. I’ve been following him since his rookie year and saw him develop from a shy rookie to the quiet leader that he is now.

My expectations as a staff writer for Blackout Dallas are to keep track of the Stars in Europe and give Stars lockout updates. I’ll be covering the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League as well, giving updates from their games along with player interviews and any breaking news from their site. However, my biggest attribute for this site will be player features, game previews and reviews. I also write for “Keep Dallas Pesky” on Aerys Sports and have covered the Stars on there since March 31, 2012–Michael Ryder’s birthday!

Feel free to contact me on Facebook and twitter at @missyndallas. I hope to see big things happening with Blackout Dallas and big season for the Dallas Stars when there will be a season.
