Dallas Stars Prospect Update

While the Dallas Stars are locked out, the season continues for the OHL and the WHL. The Stars currently have a few prospects in those leagues including Radek Faksa who was drafted by Dallas in the first round of last year. Here are some notes and statistical updates on them:

  • C Radek Faksa (first round/2012) is currently playing with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. Through 23 games he has 22 points (6g-16a). His best game was against the Mississauga Steelheads as his second period goal proved to be the game winner of a 3-2 win
  • RW Brett Ritchie (Second Round/2011) is currently playing with the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL. On January 5, 2012, Ritchie was traded to the Niagra IceDogs for Guelph’s 2012 2nd round pick, Peterborough’s 2014 2nd round pick, and Niagara’s own 2013 2nd and 5th round picks. He has 42 points (21 goals, 21 assists) in 27 games this season, and is tied for second in the Ontario Hockey League in goal scoring and ranks fourth in points.
  • Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) is currently playing with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL. Through 26 games, he has 29 points (13g-16a). He had an assist in Owen Sound’s 6-1 victory over Mississauga in the OHL on November 25.
  • RW Matej Stransky (sixth round/2011) is currently playing with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL as he has 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 24 games for the season. He had 1 goal and 2 assists in 3 games over 11/24-11/26.
