Stars Rally From Deficit To Defeat Rockford

-Rockford, Illinois

It wasn’t a smooth sailing for the Texas Stars on Tuesday night in Rockford. Starting goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp was under the weather to warrant Jack Campbell to get the start. At first the decision proved the be doubtful as Rockford scored 3 quick goals in the first 5 minutes. Campbell gathered his confidence back as Antoine Roussel and Alex Chaisson cut the lead by one. Roussel’s came on the first powerplay goal of 3 on the evening.

Luke Gazdic dropped the gloves with Brandon Bollig to start the second. Taking 5 minutes in the sin bin, it must have shock up the Stars. On the ensuing play the story of the second period was all about Reilly Smith who scored his first professional goal of his career. Jordie Benn came through on the second power play goal.

Rockford made the third a nail biter as they  tied things up at 4. It proved to not be enough as Colton Sceviour scored the winning goal with 10 minutes left to go. Campbell held on tight and picked up the win. Stars are now two for two on this six game road trip.

Next game is back-to-back Friday and Saturday nights as they head to Michigan to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins.
