The Texas Stars went into British Columbia looking to come away with four points on the road; instead they took  three out of the possible four points on the road against the top team in the Western Conference, the Abbotsford Heat. The big reason they got the three points on the road trip was due to the goal tending duo of Jack Campbell and Cristopher Nilstrop. They also got goal scoring from Reilly Smith, Taylor Vause, Cody Eakins and Matt Fraser, which was a good thing for them since goal scoring was an issue of a late. They are also now 4-0-1-1 in their last six games and 7-1-1-1 over their last ten. Here is a small game recap of the three games on December 14 through December 15:

The first game of the back-to-back series with the Abbotsford Heat was on December 14th, a Texas Stars 3-1 victory. They got a terrific performance from Nilstrop who stopped 20 out of the 21 shots he faced. Reilly Smith had a goal and an assist, fellow rookie Taylor Vause scored his first goal of the season and Cody Eakins had two points. Brady Lamb scored the only goal for the Heat as the many teddy bears rained down on the ice to due to an annual teddy bear toss.

After the Stars won the first game, they saw the Heat come back and win the next game in a shootout, 2-1 as Krys Kolanos scored the shootout winner. To get the game into the shootout, both Matt Fraser who scored his team leading 10th goal and Ben Street threaded a pass through the middle to an unmarked Krys Kolanos to the tie the game. The Texas Stars outshot the Heat as shot 40 shots on net and were one-for-five on the power play. Jack Campbell, who relieved Nilstrop, stopped 25 out of the 26 shots he faced.
