The Americans lead the season series against the Thunder, two games to none.

The day after Christmas, the Allen Americans are going back on the road to face the first place Wichita Thunder and are looking to take over first place. They faced off on Saturday, December 22nd as the Americans won 3-2 as the Americans got goals from Trevor Ludwig with his fourth goal of the season and Scotty Howes scored two goals which included the game winner in OT against Kevin Regan, who suffered his 7th loss of the season.

With the victory over the Thunder, Allen climbed within one point of top seeded Wichita in the Central Hockey League standings with four games in hand. The Americans will be looking for the same effort they got Saturday for tomorrow’s game. Over the weekend, the CHL presented Scotty Howes with the CHL player of the week for his performance.

Players to watch: Ian Lowe who had two goals in the Saturday loss will be looking to help his team win and get a comfortable point lead. Also other scorers like Trim Neil who lead the Thunder with 16 goals and is 3 goals behind the leading goal scorer of the CHL, Scotty Howes who has 19 goals.

If you were to pick a player to watch for the Americans, then Scotty Howes would be your answer. If you need another Darryl Bootland, who is having a nice season with 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 25 games, would fit the bill.

Injuries: Americans are going to be without Brett Skinner while the Thunder will be without Ryan Flannigan and Les Reaney.
