Dell, Americans Shutout Mallards 4-0

Allen, Texas–Allen Americans were looking to extend their winning streak to 4 games on New Years Eve as they went against the visiting Quad City Mallards, who won their last game against Wichita Thunder, 3-1. They did as they shutout the Quad City Mallards, 4-0 with Aaron Dell’s first pro career shutout.

Allen Americans went on the board first with a beautiful pass from Jason Diestch to Brian McMillin, who wrist shot his 7th goal passed Neil Conway’s glove side at the 5:36 mark in the first period.

“It was good. Definately had trouble with myself with finding the net and been struggling a little but the team has been do well so been doing all that I can to get on board again tonight,” McMillin said about getting the game winner.

Alec Martinez, who is playing in his first game with the Americans after signing a deal, almost made it 2-0 and his first goal but it wrung of the post. Ryley Grantham and Shayne Toporowski, who have been chirping at one another the entire time, decided to go at the 4:04 mark as they dropped the mitts. Adam Pineault almost made it 2-0 for the Americans as he was in front of the net at the 10:37 mark but Conway was fast with the pads.

Darryl Bootland and former Americans defenseman Mitch McColm, who hit Bootland, went at one another at the 9:11 mark and dropped the mitts as Bootland won the battle and made a raise the roof for the fans. Then another fight went down as Kip Brennan took down Jason Kostadine at the 8:09 mark.

Americans made it 2-0 with a rebound goal from Jarret Lukin who scored his 9th goal of the season from a beautiful pass from McMillin at the 18:21.

Martinez, who has been on fire since his first game, almost made it 3-0 but once again Conway was to quick with his pads. McMillin did an almost look no pass to Jamie Schaasfma, who almost scored to make it 3-0 but Conway kept his team in the 3rd period with spectacular glove save.

Ryley Grantham, who also fought, scored his 4th goal of the season passed Conway at the 8:53 mark in the period as he got the rebound from a Kip Brennan shot to make it 3-0. Then Kip Brennan, who assisted on the last goal, scored his 2nd goal of the season on the power play with a nice centering pass from Jason Dietsch at the 17:49 mark to seal the deal and for the win, 4-0

The Americans next game is this Friday against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05
