Brennan scored twice, Americans Get 7th Straight Win in 4-3 Victory


Allen Americans went into Fort Worth, Texas to take on the Fort Worth Brahmas to extend their winning streak today to 7 games and they did as they won 4-3 against the Brahmas. The Americans got two goals from Kip Brennan, Darryl Bootland and Ryley Grantham. The Brahmas got two from John Snowden and Tomas Klempa.

Steve Silverthorn of the Americans stopped 31 out of the 34 shots he faced.  Kristopher Westblom of the Brahmas, stopped 21 out of the 25 shots he faced.

1st Period

The Americans were buzzing as they struck first at the 16:55 mark with a goal by Kip Brennan who was in front of the net, picked up his 3rd goal of the season as Kristopher Westblom couldn’t see the shot.  Americans made it 2-0 lead when Ryley Grantham snuck around the slot from a beautiful pass by Jason Deitsch as he scored his 5th goal of the season.

At the end of the first period, both Jarret Lukin and Mike Berube had quality scoring chances but the puck went to wide.

2nd Period

Americans had a nice scoring chance as Bootland almost made it 3-0 but the puck went wide again. Darryl Bootland tipped in a Brett Skinner shot past Westblom to make it 3-0 Americans on the power play at the 14:51 mark. That was Bootland’s 16th goal of the season.

Brahmas made it 3-1 on the power play as Tomas Klempa tipped in an Erik Spady shot from the blue line at the 7:56 mark as Silverthorn couldn’t see the shot.

Kip Brennan, who scored the first goal in the game, dropped the mitts with Barnes at the 7:03 mark. After Garret Clarke went down after being elbow in the head by Ross Rouleau, Adam Pineault dropped the mitts with Rouleau to defend his teammate at the 5:41 mark.

Americans had quality chances on the power play but the Brahmas blocked and the puck went to wide on the other chances. At the end of the second period, the Brahmas had an 11 to 9 shot advantage.

3rd Period

Americans make it 4-1 as Kip Brennan was in front of the net, scored his second goal and 4th goal of the season, a rebound, at the 12:57 mark from a beautiful pass by Jamie Schaafsma.

Brahmas scored to make it 4-2 as John Snowden scored his 5th goal of the season at the 10:41 mark. Snowden scored his second goal and 6th goal of the season as he was in front of the net on the power play at the 1:11 mark.

The next game for the Allen Americans is against Fort Worth at 7:05 on Friday.
