Allen, Texas—The Allen Americans were looking to extend their winning streak to 8 games and they came out not aggressive and tired against the Fort Worth Brahmas, the same team they defeated on Tuesday night, 4-3. They saw their win streak end at 8 games with a 4-3 loss. The Americans got goals Jarret Lukin, Trevor Ludwig and Jason Deitsch while the Brahmas got goals by Chad Woollard (two goals) and Jake Morley.
Aaron Dell, who was in net for the Americans, stopped 24 out of the 28 shots he faced while Kristofer Westblom, who was in net for the Brahmas, stopped 24 out of the 27 shots he faced.
Fort Worth Brahmas were more aggressive and cleaner with their passing and were out shooting the Americans with a 9 shot advantage. Drew Daniels on the breakaway almost made it 1-0 but Kristofer Westblom stopped it with the pads at the 11:30 mark in the first period. The Brahmas took a 1-0 lead with a goal Chad Woollard that went top shelf over Aaron Dell’s glove at an impossible angle the 4:19 mark from a pass by John Snowden That was Wollard’s 10th goal of the season
Darryl Bootland, who is the team leader in goals with 16, almost made it 1-1 but Westblom snagged the puck at the 1:08 mark.
Americans showed their frustrations and aggressiveness after having a slow first period start and being down one goal. The Brahms went up 2-0 with a wraparound goal by Chad Woollard, who scored his second of the night and went past Dell’s blocker side at the 14:56 mark.
The Americans scored to make it 2-1 with a beautiful pass from Jason Deitsch to Trevor Ludwig who slapped it passed Westblom’s glove at the 12:13 mark. That was Ludwig’s 6th goal of the season. Then at the 7:47 mark John Snowden, who is having the best game, got the puck before the Americans as he shot the puck and went passed Dell’s blocker. That was Snowden’s 2nd goal of the game and his 11th goal.
The Brahmas extended their lead from 3-1 to 4-1 from a beautiful pass from Austin Mayer to Jake Morley, who scored his first goal of the season at the 9:56 mark. Americans then made it 4-2 Brahmas from a crease type goal by Jason Deitsch, who scored his 6th goal of the season at the 7:55 mark. Then at the 19:07 mark, Brett Skinner passed the puck to Jarret Lukin, who tapped the puck in passed a sprawling Westblom for his 10th goal.
