The Allen Americans went on the road looking to snap their losing streak at two games against the Arizona Sundogs at the Tim Toyota’s Center. They saw their losing streak hit to three games as they lost 4-3 in OT to the Arizona Sundogs on Friday night. On Saturday night, the Allen Americans came back and snap their losing streak at 3 as they won 2-1 against the Arizona Sundogs. The Americans are 25-6-4 for 54 points on the season, and sitting in 1st in the Barry Conference.
Allen Americans vs. Arizona Sundogs: 4-3 OT loss
The Americans saw their losing streak hit to three games as they lost 4-3 in OT. In the first period, the Arizona Sundogs took a 1-0 lead with Chad Nehring scoring his 24th goal of the season at the 3:01 mark. After Nehring’s goal, their lead went from 1-0 to 2-0 with Jeff Kyrakos scoring his 10th goal of the season at the 13:34 mark. Then Darryl Bootland, who has scored goals for the Americans, scored his team leading 16th goal of the season at the 17:01 mark. There was only one goal in the 2nd period as Bootland scored his 2nd goal and 17th goal at the 6:20 mark. The Americans then took their first lead of the game as Anthony Maiani scored his 12th goal of the season at the 11:44 mark. Then with 12 seconds remaining in the third period with an extra attacker, the Sundogs tied the game at 3-3 with Matt McCready scoring his 3rd goal of the season at the 19:48 mark. The Arizona Sundogs handed the Americans their third loss in a row as Kevin Petovello scored the game winning goal and his 5th of the season in OT at the 1:43 mark.

Then on Saturday night, the Americans snapped their losing streak at 3 games as they won 2-1. In the first period, Darryl Bootland picked up where he left off last night, putting a loose puck into the open net as he scored his 18th goal of the season at the 10:56 mark. In the second period, the Arizona Sundogs tied the game at 1-1 as Chad Nehring scored his 25th goal of the season on the power play at the 7:59 mark. Adam Pineault gave the Americans the 2-1 lead with 16:24 remaining in the third period as he scored his 7th goal of the season. Steve Silverthorn who was in net for the Americans, stopped 47 out of the 48 shots he faced in-goal.
After Saturday’s game, they travel back home to face the same Arizona Sundogs on Monday before facing the Rapid City Rush on Friday and Bloomington Blaze on Saturday night.
