Texas Stars Win Their 2nd In A Row, Defeat IceHogs 6-3

The Texas Stars went into the BMO Harris Bank Center looking to extend their win streak to two games. They did that as they defeated the Rockford IceHogs, 6-3. The Texas Stars got goals by Tomas Vincour, Alex Chiasson, Maxime Fortunus, Justin Dowling, Antoine Roussel and Matt Fraser. Richard Bachman stopped 28 out of the 31 shots he faced.

1st Period

Jeremy Morin ripped the puck just as the Power Play went away, passed it by Richard Bachman at the 3:38 mark in the first period. That was Morin’s 15th goal of the season. Then Jimmy Hayes extended the lead to two goals on the power play as he tipped in a shot by Ben Youds at the 11:52 mark in the first period. That was Hayes’ 11th goal of the season.

2nd Period

In the second period, Jimmy Hayes skated in on a breakaway and dekes around Bachman before roofing his 2nd of the game at the 1:51 mark from a beautiful pass by Ryan Stanton Then the Texas Stars went on the board at the 3:20 mark in the middle frame with a goal from Tomas Vincour to bring the score to 3-1. That was Vincour’s 8th goal. Just 1:14 later the Stars get another as Alex Chiasson tipped one to the back of the net with traffic in front of Simpson. That was Chiasson’s 12th goal of the season. Then Texas tied it up at 3 with a power play tally by Maxime Fortunus at 9:16 mark. That was Fortunus’ 5th goal of the season.

3rd Period

In the third period with two quick goals that were two minutes apart as Justin Dowling cashed in on the power play to give the Stars their first lead of the night as Texas took the lead 4-3 at the 14:59 mark. That was Dowling’s 3rd goal of the season. Then they extended their lead from 4-3 to 5-3 as they converted for their third PP goal and extends their lead to 5-3 as Antoine Roussel backhanded a loose puck past Simpson for his 9th goal of the season. Matt Fraser tallied an empty net goal for his 20th goal of the season with 1:18 remaining that increased the lead, 6-3.
