This is the first of three meetings between the Detroit Red Wings and Dallas Stars. The Red Wings swept a four-game season series against the Stars in 2011-12.

About The Stars

The Dallas Stars are coming off a 1-0 loss against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Rookie goaltender Christopher Nilstorp was fabulous in début against the Wild, stopping 32 out of the 33 shots faced. His teammates mustered up 24 shots on Josh Harding but could not get anything past him.

Kari Lehtonen will start in net for the Dallas Stars.

Injuries: Aaron Rome will miss his third game due to a groin injury.

About the Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a 4-3 shootout win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday with Damien Brunner getting the game winning shootout goal. Tuesday’s game will be the home opener for Detroit. Tomas Holmstrom will also be announcing his retirement today.

Reilly Smith, Stars forward, will be facing his older brother, Brendan Smith who plays defense for the Wings.
Jimmy Howard will start in net for the Wings

Injuries: Detroit has been hit hard with the injury bug. D Jonathan Ericsson (shoulder) is questionable. F Darren Helm (back), F Todd Bertuzzi (illness), F Jan Mursak (collarbone) D Jakub Kindl (groin) and G Jonas Gustavsson (groin) are out.

Look for a close game between the Red Wings and Stars as the Stars try to come back after being shutout by the Minnesota Wild.
