Allen, Texas–The Allen Americans entered tonight’s action in the midst of a two game winless streak (1-2-2) and looked to snap it as they faced the Fort Worth Brahmas, who won their last two games. Sy Nutkevitch sealed the 4-3 victory with the only conversion for either team in the shootout as the Americans losing streak hit three games.
Allen Americans went up 1-0 on the power play from a goal by Kale Kerbashian as he wrist it past Brad Fogal’s glove at the 12:48 mark. That was Kerbashian’s 4th goal of the season. Brahmas tied the game at 1-1 with a goal by Ross Rouleau as he wrist shot it passed Aaron Dell for his 3rd goal of the season at the 8:25 mark. Brian McMillin scored a power play goal, that was a rebound goal pass Fogal for his 8th goal that made it 2-1.
The Brahmas tied the game at 2-2 as Shawn Syzdlowski slapped it passed Aaron Dell’s glove for his 7th goal of the season at the 13:15 mark in the third period. Then they went up 3-2 with a power play goal by Chad Woollard that deflected a shot from a Syzdlowski slap shot that screened Dell at the 6:45 mark. That was Woollard’s 14th goal of the season. Americans tied the game up on the power play to make it 3-3 as Anthony Maiani fed Tyler Ludwig a beautiful pass as he slapped it pass Fogal for his 6th goal of the season at the 4:33 mark in the third period.
Schaasfma almost had a chance to score the game winner in OT but Fogal sat on the puck. Nutkevitch was the only one who convered in the shootout. Next game is on Friday, February 1st when they face the Arizona Sundogs at 7:05pm.
