Jamie Benn and Brenden Morrow’s first goals of the season help hand Colorado their first loss at home
The road games for the Dallas Stars this season so far has not been kind to them as they are 1-4-0 and have tallied just four goals in their last six games. Also they have made too many trips to the penalty box and it has resulted in the losses starting to pile up. They went into tonight’s game against the Colorado Avalanche looking for answers and they found them as they won 3-2.
The Dallas Stars found their scoring touch on the road as Jamie Benn scored on a breakaway as he picked off the puck and wrist shot it past Varlamov’s blocker side for Benn’s first goal of the season. Then Brenden Morrow made it 2-0 as he charged the net and scored a rebound goal past Varlamov. Milan Hejduk made it 2-1 as he scored a rebound goal past Lehtonen’s glove from a first shot by John Mitchell.
Once again Dallas was having penalty trouble and it was costly as PA Parenteau scored on the power play to tie the game up at 2-2 in the second period as he scored a backhand goal past Kari Lehtonen’s glove side. With great puck pressure by the Stars to make it 3-2, Derek Roy dished the puck to Jamie Benn, who was wide open, as he ripped it past Varlamov’s blocker side for his second goal of the game.
The next game for the Dallas Stars is on Wednesday night when they face the Edmonton Oilers at 9pm.
-Derek Roy, who missed the past six games with a groin injury, came back into the lineup.
