The game also snapped a three-game road losing streak to the Stars. Dallas closed out January with a 1-5-1 record. February is looking to be better for the Stars as they are so far 2-1-0. They are seeking their first winning streak tonight of the season.

The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a 3-2 OT lost to the Vancouver Canucks in Edmonton on Monday as they squandered a 2-0 lead in the game. Kevin Bieska tied the game and then Chris Tanev won it as the Oilers are now winless in their games (0-1-2). The Oilers will look to avoid a fourth consecutive loss overall and fifth straight to the Stars. During the season, the Dallas Stars traded Mark Fistric to the Edmonton Oilers but Fistric will miss the game due to a back injury.
