Last night, the Dallas Stars (7-5-1) have been finding ways to win and it has paid off. They extended their winning streak to four games, when they had a huge third period against the Edmonton Oilers to win 4-1. A three-goal third period put the game away, with Eric Nystrom sparking the outburst with his first goal of the season. It was also his first in 31 games, while Jaromir Jagr and Ryan Garbutt also lit the lamp in the last frame. Richard Bachman will start in net for the Stars.
Their opponent the Calgary Flames (3-4-3) are on a two game home stand that saw them lose in the shootout to the Minnesota Wild, 2-1 on Monday night. It was the second straight loss for the Flames, who are 0-3 in shootouts this year. It was also announced that goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff will be out at least two more weeks with an MCL sprain.
We all know that the Dallas Stars are not good on back to back road series as Dallas is 1-14-2 in the second night of back-to-back sets since last season. If the Stars can find ways to figure out their back to back woes then they will be winning their fifth in a row and their second back to back win.
Stars Injuries: LW Ray Whitney (foot) is out for the Stars.
The teams are meeting for the first of three times this season; they’ll face each other in Dallas on Sunday. The Stars won three of the four games last season, though the Flames won the last one in Calgary.
