The Dallas Stars (9-8-2) may be battered and metaphorically limping into Columbus tonight, but they’re doing whatever they can to stay in the Western Conference playoff picture. They are finding ways to win games and doing it without their number one goaltender Kari Lehtonen who has been practicing with the team. But last night, they lost 5-4 in the overtime against the Nashville Predators. They had a 4-2 lead into the second period, but the Predators scored late in the second and again in the third to force overtime.
Tonight will be the fifth set of back-to-back games for the Stars as they are, of course, 1-15-2 on the second night of a back-to-back dating back to last season, including 0-4-0 this season. They will look to end that tonight when they face the Blue Jackets (5-12-2), who are coming off a 1-0 loss at Chicago on Sunday. The Blue Jackets are playing their first home game after a six-game road trip that saw them go 1-5-0. They are also giving up way too many goals and not scoring enough.
Both teams are going to be looking to get back on track. With Dallas, they are looking to figure out their back-to-back woes and find a way to win. With Columbus, they are looking to find their offense again. Hopefully tonight is the night that the back to back woes disappear for Dallas.
This is the second of three meetings. The Blue Jackets edged the Stars by a 2-1 score on Jan. 28 at Nationwide Arena.
- Stars forward Michael Ryder has points in six straight games (2 goals, 7 assists)
- Stars center Jamie Benn has 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) over his last ten games.
