Allen, Texas–Game one saw the Allen Americans wondering if they could score more than one goal against Kieran Millan, who stopped 34 shots out of the 35 shots he faced. Friday night was a different story as the Americans tied the series up at one game apiece with a 4-2 victory. The Cutthroats tired to dig themselves out a four goal hole, but the Americans held onto the victory. Allen made the score 3-0 with a goal by Brian McMillin at the 3:46 mark in the third period. The Cutthroats got it as close as 3-2 when Brad Smyth scored at the 19:06 mark but an empty-net goal by the Allen Americans in the closing seconds cemented the 4-2 final on Friday in front of 3,842 at the Allen Event Center in game two of the Presidents’ Cup Opening Round.

Trevor Ludwig scored the shorthanded, empty-net goal for the Americans. The Americans also recorded goals by Justin Kirsch and Todd Robinson. Goaltender Aaron Dell earned the win with a 25-save night.

The Cutthroats finished 0-for-10 on the power play while the Americans finish 0-for-6.

The series now shifts to the Mile High City where the Cutthroats and Americans will square off in game three on Easter Sunday.  Puck drop is set for 4:05 PM MST.
