It has been a busy day for the Stars organization, which has been signing paperwork left and right. Check out who’s new to the team, who you can likely look forward to seeing and some interesting tid-bits about all 30 teams across the league in today’s edition of the Hat Trick.
The big news for Dallas right now is the very strong likelihood of the organization hiring Lindy Ruff to take over the team’s still-vacant head coach position. Fans seem to have mixed feelings about the potential hiring, noting his lack of Stanely Cup Championships as cause for concern. Honestly though, the Sabres have been to the playoffs much more recently than the Stars, so maybe Ruff can whip this team of whipper snappers into shape.
It was another big resigning day for the Stars as the organization resigned both Travis Morin and Colton Sceviour to two-way contracts. Sceviour led the Texas Stars in points in the regular season, and contributed an assist in his one game in Dallas. Morin sat just two spots behind Sceviour in Texas’ point standings, but led the team in assists. Both additions will be critical to the success of both organizations in the coming years.
Ever wondered who in the world came up with the Winnipeg Jets or the Philadelphia Flyers? Check out this awesome link that gives you the run down of every team in the league and how it came to be named. And not to take any wind out of the sails, but Dallas’ story is a lot less interesting than…well….just about every other team in the league. The story behind the New York Rangers is something all Texans will love though.
