Scott Robbins hosting "The Bevo Banter" Sport talk show

An Introduction To The Newest Blackout Dallas Writer, Scott Robbins

Dallas Stars Nation, I am proud, honored and thrilled to join an already amazing team here at Blackout Dallas.

I am originally from Long Island (like Stars fan favorite Eric Nystrom), but I got to Texas as fast as possible and was raised in the Dallas area. While growing up in Dallas, I became an avid Stars fan and learned to love everything hockey. Along with writing for Blackout Dallas, I play amateur hockey in Farmers Branch. Don’t worry, I can write better than I play…I hope (although that’s not saying much).

Before joining Blackout Dallas, I have experience in both writing and broadcasting. While studying at the University of Texas at Austin, I called play-by-play for UT Volleyball on Time Warner Cable’s Texas Channel. In addition, I have also called play-by-play for NCAA Lacrosse and NCAA Basketball for the College TV Ticket, spent time as the sideline reporter covering the Lake Travis Cavaliers for 104.9 FM ESPN Radio – Austin, and currently call play-by-play for high school football in the Dallas metroplex.

Also at the University of Texas, I hosted a sports talk radio program on Texas Student Radio (91.7 FM – KVRX) called “Sports With Schmucks”, hosted a college sports talk show on Texas Student TV called “College Crossfire”, and made many appearances on “College Pressbox”, a University of Texas sports highlight show.

In the writing field, I have covered college football, college basketball and college baseball, specifically the Texas Longhorns, as the Sports Editor for The Horn (an independent student news source for the University of Texas). I was the beat hockey writer for The Sports Belt right before joining Blackout Dallas to cover the Dallas Stars. In addition to writing for Blackout Dallas, I also cover the NFL for another FanSided site, NFL Spin Zone.
