Brahmas On Short End Of Another 3 - 1 Score

The Lone Star Brahmas welcomed the Wichita Falls Wildcats into the NyTex Sports Centre on Military Appreciation Night Wednesday for and NAHL South contest. For the third game in a row the Brahmas ended up on the wrong end of a 3 – 1 score.

Wichita Falls jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead in the first. At 14:38 Tyler Ledford sent the puck to Jake Townsend at the center point. Townsend fired a shot on goal that Colin Staub tipped in front and behind TJ Black. Will Vosejpka got the next one on a tick tack passing play in front. Kyle Bauman controlled a loose puck at the top of the far circle and sent a backhanded touch pass to Vosejpka on the backdoor for a backhand shot back against the grain and over the Left pad. Time of the goal was 16:54 with Andrew Kerr getting the secondary assist.

From the second period on the Brahmas stepped up their play and had several scoring opportunities, but David Zevnik made about five big stops on breakaways. They were finally able to break through at 14:21. RJ Salvato took the hit at the blueline to make the play.  Salvato sent the puck into the corner for Matt Lison. Lison curled back toward the point and found Salvato driving into the leftwing circle for a wrister off of Zevnik. Jan Hudecek had stationed himself off the near post to poke home the rebound.

Lone Star kept the pressure on and with just under a minute to go pulled Black for the extra attacker. Unfortunately, as Black jumped the boards so did two Brahma skaters resulting in a too many men bench minor. Again the Brahmas had the puck deep in the zone when a shot went off a shin guard springing Bauman on a lone man rush and he scored the empty netter at 19:59.

Shots on goal were 31 – 26 in favor of the Wildcats. Wichita Falls was 1 – 4 on the power play albeit coming on the empty net goal. The Brahmas on the other hand once again put up a goose egg on the power play going 0 – 4 and are now scoreless in their last 45 power play opportunities.
