Lone Star Brahmas vs Odessa Jackalopes Preview

Brahmas vs Jacks

The Lone Star Brahmas return to NAHL South Division action Friday as they open a weekend series in Odessa. Hopefully the guys got a lot of rest over the Christmas break as the series against the Jackalopes starts a staggering six games in eight days stretch, all on the road. The Brahmas and Jackalopes have faced each other twice this season splitting a pair at the Nytex Sports Centre in late October.

Lone Star last played at home December 13th and 14th against Rio Grande losing game one 2 – 0 on two Killer Bees second period power play goals. Game two was an exciting 4 – 3 come from behind shootout win. Sebastian Vidmar (Austin Thielges, Jan Hudecek) opened the scoring with a late first period power play goal. A second period Ben Owen (Michael Crowley, Ryan Watson) was sandwiched between a pair of Rio Grande goals to go into the third period ties at two. After the Killer Bees took the lead at 12:07 of the third Captain Matt Lison (Alexey Solovyev, Thielges) knotted it up with just over two minutes to go. In the shootout Liam Stirtzinger tallied in the fourth round while Jett Salinas turned aside all five shots he faced to grab the win.

Odessa has not played competitively since December 6th and 7th. In the series they were swept at home by Corpus Christi. In the two games the Jackalopes were outscored 8 – 1 suffering a 4 – 0 shutout in game one and a 4 – 1 loss in game two.
