The Dallas Stars took to the ice last nice knowing they could put a 2 point lead separation between themselves and the Phoenix Coyotes when they took to the ice last night when they took on the Carolina Hurricanes. The Star riding high after dominating 3 straight games were suppose to skate in and pick up their two points and get out of town, but the Stars learned a valuable lesson last night.
The Stars watched the 2nd period go from bad to worse after a bad bounce goal to running into a hot goal tender in Anton Khudobin. Tyler Seguin beat Khudobin but that was it for the evening.
The Stars learned a quick lesson that on the road to the Stanley Cup playoffs that you can’t survive the game your playing in on last night’s resume. This needs to be a quick lesson as the Stars head to the sunshine state to face a playoff team in the Tampa Bay Lightning and a team playing out the string in the Florida Panthers. With six games left every point is precious and the Stars need to make the Florida Swing by picking up 4 points and head home.
The Stars have the tie breaker with the Coyotes but they need to get some breathing room so that season ending game that is staring them in the face against the Coyotes isn’t a winner take all contest. The Stars were served a lesson last night the question is whether they learn from it and grab that playoff spot!
What do you think? A one game night off or reason for concern?
