The Dallas Stars are looking to spend their game in hand on the Phoenix Coyotes wisely as they face off against the Panthers today at the BB&T Center. Less than 24 hours ago the Stars put on an impressive show against the 3rd place team in the Atlantic division, The Tampa Bay Lightning. They gained two points in one of their games in hand on the Phoenix Coyotes, thus securing 8th place and giving them a chance to spread the gap today in Jacksonville. The Stars and Coyotes have been fighting for the eighth seed since February 8th when the Stars beat the Yotes 2-1 at the American Airlines Center and moved into the 8th spot for the first time since December 31st. They have been outdueling each other since and constantly changing the seat of power. If the Stars can play smart against the 28th best team in the league, they will drastically increase their chances of ending the 5 year playoff drought that Stars fans have endured for much too long. Aaron Rome and Ray Whitney are still benched and Erik Cole was finally added back to the mix after a 7 game absence.
