Dallas Stars: What's On Tap This Week

The final week of the season is here and the Stars are one point ahead of the Phoenix Coyotes and their breathing room is ultra thin due to coughing up a 2-0 lead in South Florida. Now the stress level will be super high for the remaining four games of the season. Luckily the next three are on home ice before the potential playoff play in-game against the Phoenix Coyotes Sunday night.

The week starts off Tuesday when the Nashville Predators come to town. The key to beating the Preds is score early and often so Barry Trotz and their boring lock down defense can’t suffocate everything in site.  The Stars handled the Preds easily the last time they met, and will be looking to do so one more time this season.

The battle of wild card wannabe’s will be taking place on Wednesday night when the Columbus Blue Jackets come to town.  Both Columbus and Dallas have had chances in the past week to gain some space between themselves and the 9th seed and both let those chance slip threw their grasp.  This basically will be a playoff game and one the Stars will need to play a 60 minute game.

Friday night the St. Louis Blue come to town and their struggling offense.  The Blues were outscored 8-2 this past weekend and are starting to show some cracks in the armor.  The Blues play could be determined if they have the #1 seed locked down or not, but either way one thing is for certain this game will be physical and 2 points the Stars covet will be on the line.

Sunday could be a winner take all game when the Stars travel to the desert. The Coyotes didn’t play very well this past week but if it comes down to a home game for a playoff spot in Game #82 you can throw out the record book and lock down the hatches.  This is where the breathing room could have come in handy.

What game are you looking forward to the most this week?
