3 Reasons The Stars Should Be Worried About The Ducks

It’s finally here, Stars fans! Game one of the Stars Stanley Cup run commences tonight. The game starts at 9 PM and promises to be a great one.

The other day I did an article about the three Stars who needed to step up if we were to get anything done. So, this morning I want to write about 3 reasons why the Stars should ultimately worry about the Ducks and must bring their A game to Anaheim:

1. Frederik Andersen

Be ready Stars fans. This goalie has an unimaginable 20-5 record with a 2.29 GAA and a .923 save percentage. He also shut the Stars down in his NHL debut, not allowing any goals at the Honda Center after being subbed in form Jonas Hiller who let up three in the first. He will most likely be getting the start considering Jonas Hiller has been hitting some major road blocks during his last few games in net and will most likely need a few more days to recuperate. The Stars will need to use their offensive powerhouse to find early gaps and win the shooting battles if they want to have any chance against this insane net minder. Win the battles and get Andersen out of the game early (sounds easy enough right). Oh, did I mention, this is Andersen’s first playoff game too? So allow the nerves to fight against him as well.

2. Getzlaf and Perry

Now of course these guys need to be kept on constant watch. This duo has acquired 169 points together this season, 6 more than our lovable duo, Seguin and Benn, and 3 more goals than us with 74. They are an offensive threat whenever they step out on the ice together and need to be pressured heavily. Kari can take some of it but they can’t lay it all on him like they’ve done a few times this year. They will have to play a strong blue line and get in the way of their paths to the net.

3. The longing of Anaheim fans

Expect a sold out crowd on Wednesday night at the Honda Center. While we’ve been longing to make the playoffs for the last 5 years, Anaheim has been longing to make it out of the first round, a team which has had 3 recent first round exits over the years, all while being the higher seeded team. So these fans are gonna do whatever it takes to help their team get a win. The Ducks have had major problems this past season against fast-paced teams, and when the Stars play fast paced, they win. Jump the gun a little and get the fans warming their seats early and often. Fast pace is their key.

So it’s gonna be fun and I can’t wait! Be ready for a game filled with scoring chances and big hits. If they can follow the Big 3 steps, they will definitely get a win. Duck hunting season opens TODAY. See y’all later and Go Stars
