Okay, my friends. In my report card on Jamie Benn, I basically concluded that the Stars should hold on to Jamie Benn like he’s made of pure gold.
Well, I haven’t really changed my mind whatsoever on my opinion, so its basically just a re-run of his report card from here down.
Jamie Benn had a true breakout season, and he did it in his first year wearing a big C on his shoulder. He notched career highs in both of the major departments, netting 34 goals and tallying 45 assists in his 81 game regular season. His playoffs were no disappointment either, with 4 goals scored and 1 assist acquired in his first 6 playoff games of all time. He’s got a long contract keeping him glued to Big D, and I think he’s pretty happy being here. He is the perfect leader for the Stars right now and a people’s person. They need to do nothing with Benn in the next 2 seasons at least, he needs nothing more or less. His friction with Tyler Seguin is undeniable and they have formed one of the Top 3 most threatening dynamic duos in the present NHL.
He is nowhere near a trade block or deal sweetener, so don’t even let that sneak into your mind. He’s a skillful and physical player, which is a great combination that most teams can’t find in one single player. Benn is an electric forward and he has made a name for himself in not just Dallas, but the entire National Hockey League. His Modano-like status is what impresses so many and he’s ready to be one of the NHL elites and take this team out of a going on 16 year drought and back to the land of the Stanley Cup.
So I’ve probably just stated 100% of y’all’s opinions but just so we are truly clear on everything, VOTE here on how you think the Stars should handle Benn’s situation:
