NHL Entry Draft 2014: Stars Remain Quiet

Today is the day Stars fans! The 2014 NHL entry draft is just over half an hour away from starting in Philadelphia. Although the draft is yet to begin, there have been a few major moves made already. Let’s get you caught up on all the action thus far today.

Vancouver Canucks traded C Ryan Kesler to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for C Nick Bonino, D Luca Sbisa, and the 24th overall pick in the 2014 entry draft. The teams also swapped 3rd round picks.

Vancouver Canucks trade D Jason Garrison, LW Jeff Costello and a 2015 seventh round pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for the 50th overall pick in the 2014 entry draft.

Vancouver Canucks trade the 85th overall pick in the 2014 entry draft to the New York Rangers in exchange for Derek Dorsett.

Arizona Coyotes buy out the contract of C Mike Ribeiro, making him a free agent.

San Jose Sharks buy out the contract of RW Martin Havlat, making him a free agent.

The Dallas Stars are yet to make any big noise today. However, expect Jim Nill to be working the draft floor franticly in the early picks of tonight’s draft.
