Happy Birthday America: One Year Ago Today

Good morning Stars fans, and what a beautiful Independence Day it is! Happy Birthday America! I thought that before we all go out and enjoy barbeque or boating and fireworks, I put in a quick reminder of what happened a mere 365 days ago!

“America turned 237, right?” Right! But the big headline for Stars fans was that 365 days ago, the new GM that no one was sure of, especially after bringing in a shaky coach a week before, brought in a “drunken and off the handle” 21 year old center who had been on the Boston Bruins’ “get rid of” list to play the #1 center spot for our Dallas Stars. WHAAA? This new GM must have some old person disease if he thinks getting this guy in exchange for my favorite player Loui Eriksson is going to help our team in any way come next season.

And now 365 days later, look at them. Look at us. Look at yourself. What a “judge a book by it’s cover” type of person you were. Okay, maybe I was too…

But, one year later, the 4th of July seems to be THE day, not just for America, but for the Dallas Stars as well. Tyler Seguin turned out to be Dallas’ saving grace, as we all know and it turns out that he was the biggest steal of the NHL offseason last year. He proved it this past season on the ice as a leader and offensive juggernaut on the ice. And look where we are one year later? Wow.

Now, has Nill already made a steal in these past couple of days? I’m sure of it. Is he planning on playing “Uncle Sam” today and leading the Stars to another fantastic move? Probably not, but crazier thing have happened! Nill is the leader the Stars had been searching for and with the moves he makes, it’s downright insane if the Stars don’t pull out a Cup in the next three years. But that’s just me.

Okay, I hate to disappoint you, unless you can’t stand my constant rambling about Stars, Stars, Stars, then you’ll be happy. But I am going to go ahead and take the day off to spend some quality time with my friends and family. I will have an article up tomorrow morning as always, bright and early! But with all the frenzy from free agency, my head’s been spinning the last few days. But I like it that way, it keeps me active. I also know that you will all be enjoying your day off with your family or friends as well, so you won’t necessarily be looking for an article, especially on a slow day. Now, if Nill makes another move, and I won’t put it past him, I will be on the case like a hamburger patty on your grill. I just wanted to remind you of the greatness that went down a year ago today and how much better off the Stars are now and how bright the future is ahead! But besides that, enjoy your day, and thanks again for constantly supporting me by reading my daily dose of insanity! It really completes me, whatever that means. But thanks again, and I hope you enjoy your day, I’ll talk to you on Saturday morning, bright and early no less! Happy Birthday America!
