Stars Set To Introduce Spezza To Media Today

The Dallas Stars made a giant move on July 1st by trading Alex Chiasson and prospects for veteran center Jason Spezza to help lead the Stars second line and truly beef up the Stars’ current dot problems. He will help hold up Tyler Seguin’s load and give Seguin more freedom to show off the skills he has. With the trade happening just minutes before the NHL free agency market opened, it is being regarded as the top move of the period so far.

And now Jim Nill and the Stars organization is set to show off Spezza to the media for the first time. This will be Spezza’s first time in person in front of the press as a Dallas Star and is a formal gathering for Nill to introduce Spezza and then allow him to answer any of the questions the media may have. This will be Spezza’s very first time in front of the Dallas media, another team besides the Senator’s media for that matter. Spezza played his entire career for the Ottawa Senators since being drafted second overall by them in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Spezza seemed rather excited during the conference call between he and different Dallas Stars’ news affiliates. He said he could not wait to get to Dallas and play with such a young group of players, sharing his wisdom and leadership he had gained throughout his years with them. When the news that the Stars had also signed friend and former teammate Ales Hemsky was mentioned to Spezza, he seemed to light up rather quickly and become much more alive than before. He said he had really good chemistry with Hemsky throughout their short tenure on the same line in Ottawa and he was really looking forward to playing with him. Nill believes that re-signing Spezza, who only has one year left on his deal, will be rather easy and is looking to hopefully get a new deal locked down before the regular season commences. if you want to read more about Nill’s plans, click here.

I cannot wait to see what questions are asked tomorrow and see JUST how happy he is to be here. Spezza will also put on the Victory Green for the first time and his jersey will officially be for sale at the American Airlines Center Gift Shop immediately following the event. The intro and presser are scheduled for 10 AM CST and you can find the interview on stars.nhl.com
