Good morning and Happy Tuesday, Stars fans!
I have official news, even if it is two days late!
The Dallas Stars are scheduled to play the Texas Stars, their AHL affiliate, before the regular season opens up for both teams. This is mainly for fan entertainment and a leisure game, though it will be used also as a source for Jim Nill and Lindy Ruff as well as Derek Laxdal to see the talent they have in the big leagues and the farm system. Many names will be on both Stars’ watch lists for this game in order to make any last minute changes to either roster before the regular season commences.
As far as it has been revealed, the game might end up being open to the public and admission will be free. It will be hosted at the Cedar Park Center down in Austin, so the deep south Stars fans will be able to see the NHL in action without having to make any giant trips.
The game will take place on October 4th, just four days after the Dallas Stars preseason schedule ends and five days before they open their season against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Texas Stars regular season schedule has not been released yet.
The game will be a very enjoyable one, with the 2014 Calder Cup Champions Texas Stars facing a young and talented Dallas Stars squad that punched their ticket to the playoffs this past season for the first time in 6 years. There SHOULD NOT be any roughing around, but do not put it past some Stars members, regardless of team. Some notable names will be Jack Campbell, Patrik Nemeth, Kevin Connauton, Colton Sceviour, Brett Ritchie, and Travis Morin, who are all trying to prove that they deserve some playing time in the majors this upcoming season. So a good amount will be riding on this game for a few player’s futures.
