Good afternoon, Stars fans. It’s another day closer to the weekend and that means another day closer to Stars hockey! 77 days until the Dallas Stars start their season against the Chicago Blackhawks at the American Airlines Center.
Has anyone been tossing around in their mind the thought of the Stars getting an alternate jersey aside from their regular home and away sweaters?
This has been a very hot topic between Stars fans and there has been a good bit of speculation regarding a possible third choice in the jersey category.
Some NHL teams do in fact have alternate jerseys, and they are used for mainly rivalry games, special nights, and decisive playoff games, to name a few scenarios.
In an interview by Josh Bogorad with Jim Lites, president and CEO of the Dallas Stars organization, this question arose. Bogorad asked Lites about what the possibility was of seeing the Stars in an alternate jersey in the near future. Lites answered that there has been talk about it, but that no thought has been put into it.
Lites seemed very happy about the Dallas Stars fresh, new look in the victory green and says that the new look has gained a lot of praise in the NHL and is considered one of the top five nicest jerseys in the league. He also said that considering the new jerseys have only been established for one season, the organization is going to give them a little more time to settle in before searching for a new addition.
With the likes of Jim Nill from Detroit where two jerseys only has been the rule since the dawn of the organization, he feels it could also be a bit of a stretch to get Nill to agree. Though owner Tom Gaglardi is more “hip” than the other higher-ups in the Stars staff, it will take some time.
Would you love to see a Stars alternate jersey in the near future? If so, what color or style would you want to see?
