Dallas Stars Power Countdown: 61 Days: ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE

So, the weekend has settled in! But the countdown rages on! 61 days until the Dallas Stars open up their season against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 9th at the American Airlines Center.

I’m sure through the miscellany of thoughts that go through your noggin everyday, there’s one that has occupied your brain over the past few days and that is this:

JUST WHAT IN THE NAME OF JIM NILL IS THE ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE?

The Ice Bucket Challenge started up about 4 days ago and was commenced by Julian Edelman, a wide receiver for the New England Patriots. The motive behind his idea was to support 29-year-old Pete Frates, the former Boston College baseball captain who is battling ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. He is confined to a wheelchair and no longer possesses the ability to speak. So fellow Boston athletes rallied around him and began this newfound tradition.

All you do is film yourself dumping a bucket of ice and cold water over top of your head, and then issue the challenge to 2 or 3 others, who then have 24 hours to complete the same challenge, or else they’re no fun and cannot keep up with tradition.

Boston athletes past and present began it, including Doug Flutie, Greg Campbell, Brad Marchand, Dennis Seidenberg, Torey Krug, Milan Lucic, Julian Edelman, Jason Varitek, and Rajon Rondo.

But it has spread like wildfire, including your very own Dallas Stars personnel!

Rich Peverley was the first member called out, and he passed the freezing baton to Tyler Seguin, Antoine Roussel, and Andrew Ference.

Tyler Seguin completed it and passed the challenge to Jamie Benn, who plans to complete it sometime today, Kevin Connauton, and the Stars beat reporter Mike Heika!

Antoine Roussel finished his frozen assignment and moved it to Ryan Garbutt, Vernon Fiddler, and Alex Burrows.

Kevin Connauton got through his and moved the challenge along to Jordie Benn, Brenden Dillon, and the Stars new ice-level reporter Ali Lucia!

Mike Heika responded LIGHTNING fast and challenged the Stars broadcasting duo, Ralph Strangis and Daryl “Razor” Reaugh! I honestly cannot wait to see these two embark on this journey.

I’m just waiting for my invitation (a kid can dream, can’t he?)!!!! Maybe Jordie or Garbutt will hit me up (still dreaming!)

Anyways, here are the videos from the Stars personnel that have completed the challenge.
