Dallas Stars Links: Tom Gaglardi's Legal Lines

Let me start this one off by saying that I’m a big proponent in being environmentally friendly. I recycle, turn off lights when I leave the room, the whole bit. We should all do our part to keep this planet clean. I believe that companies have the moral and social responsibilities of treating the planet properly. I also understand that businesses don’t necessarily care about the environment as much as they do their bottom line. While it may not be right, it is good for business. This week, Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi was found guilty of harmful alteration of fish habitat due to improper disposal of materials. While I don’t condone that type of behavior, from purely a fan standpoint you have to love it when the owner of your team would rather be focusing on his club’s line combinations than the possibility of going to jail for one year and/or paying a million dollar fine. [DallasNews.com]

Let us clean this up and move on to other recycled stories about the Dallas Stars:

I’m a big fan of almost anything behind the scenes. Something about getting the inside story on a topic that most of the public doesn’t get to see just fascinates me. Over at the Stars official website, they have a cool story about how the new logos and uniforms were created. Did ya’ll know that the new Stars jerseys were almost red, white and blue, but Stars fans stepped in and saved the day? [Stars.NHL.com]

Friday was Dallas Stars day on ProHockeyTalk.com so there’s quite a bit of Stars material to read. Apparently Jason Spezza is under pressure, some guy named Mike Modano was voted the best Dallas Stars player ever (what? No Shane Churla?), and it all comes down to Kari Lehtonen for Dallas. There are other stories too, so give them a read if you want. [ProHockeyTalk]

Puck Daddy is doing something called Summer of Disappointment for each NHL team, here is their Dallas Stars edition. Once again, Puck Daddy raises the bar when it comes to Dallas Stars content, getting pretty much every single item on this list wrong. I suppose Stars fans should at least be excited that a national blog knows Dallas has a hockey team, right? [Puck Daddy]

Of course, Puck Daddy also had some nice things to say about Dallas. [Puck Daddy]

They said that hockey won’t work in the south. I guess some “vandals” in Katy, Texas didn’t get that message. Looks more like public service work than vandalism to me. [DefendingBigD]

Does anyone remember the Stars 2nd round draft pick in 1995? If you don’t, it’s ok, his name was Patrick Cote. He was taken with the 37th overall pick, Cote only played in eight games for Dallas during three seasons, recording no points, a minus three rating and 47 penalty minutes, before being claimed by Nashville in their expansion. Well he apparently he’s robbed more than a Dallas draft pick. [CBSSports]

As always, I welcome your comments. Thanks for reading and go Stars!
