Dallas Stars Power Countdown: 50 Days: Top Game of 13-14

We’ve officially hit Wednesday and that means we are halfway through the week! Plus, we’re halfway through 100 days until the Stars season opener! 50 days until the Dallas Stars open up their regular season against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 9th at the American Airlines Center.

I’ve started a new series, and if you didn’t catch yesterday’s poll, tough luck.

I have made a bracket, one like you would see for the NBA or NHL playoffs, of the 16 best games of the Dallas Stars 2013-2014 regular season. I’m sure you will agree entirely with the 16 games I have chosen, and if not, then just play along and comment at the end with which one you feel should have been given a chance and won.

So, I will put a poll up for each of the next 15 days featuring one of the games, with a brief argument for why it should be considered. Then, you can go to the bottom and vote on which one you think deserves to move on to the next round. The poll will expire 24 hours after it is put up, just in time for the next bracket of games to be put up. At the end of the Sweet 16, I will announce the winners of the entire round and start up the Elite 8, and so on and so forth. Sound fun? If so, great! If not, oh well.

Yesterday, the second poll went up, with the Dallas Stars @ Calgary Flames on November 14th game facing off against the Toronto Maple Leafs @ Dallas Stars game on January 23rd. I’ll announce the winner of that one once all the other posts have been voted for and accounted for.

TODAY’S MATCHUP: Anaheim Ducks @ Dallas Stars on November 26th VS. Minnesota Wild @ Dallas Stars on March 8th

Anaheim @ Dallas, 6-2 F:

This game was fantastic for many reasons: one being that it was Thanksgiving break! But after the Anaheim Ducks made a mockery of the Dallas Stars in late October back at the Honda Center, it was past due the time for swift and unmerciful revenge. With backup netminder Dan Ellis in net, the Stars started out slow and gradually increased their lead as the night went on. Including Stephane Robidas’ last goal as a Dallas Star and Ryan Garbutt’s “guitar riff” shot that landed on top shelf for unsuspecting Jonas Hiller, it was truly a night to remember!

Minnesota @ Dallas, 4-3 F:

MODANO NIGHT! This does not need a MASSIVE description, just major props to Erik Cole, who showed up and made sure the Wild had no chance of spoiling Mo’s special night. From Kari Lehtonen’s head meeting the metal crossbar and bringing newly arrived backup Tim Thomas in to get his feet wet, to Cole turning into a human battering ram after lending his stick to Brenden Dillon and his third period beauty on the break that proved to be the game winner, you could not have asked for much more on this special night.

So, you vote now! Be on the lookout tomorrow for the next edition of this playoffs series! You have until 2:30 PM CST on Thursday, August 21 to cast your vote and help the game you thought was better to move on! VOTE BELOW.

Which Was The Better Game Of The Stars 2013-2014 Regular Season?
